Ian Mills

Ian Mills
Chairman

Ian is one of the Founders of Tekron International, with a background of engineering management.

Ian managed Tekron from its inception until becoming Chairman in 2010, implementing prudent financial and management policies which have enabled the Company to achieve its present strong financial and technical position as a leading supplier of GPS timing products, with customers in over 50 countries.

As a professional Civil Engineer he has been involved in many high profile, demonstrably successful construction projects in New Zealand and United Kingdom. These include nuclear and hydro electric projects, bridges, wharves, tunnels and many buildings. Notable amongst these buildings is the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa where he was responsible for management of design and construction. Projects he has managed are often large and difficult, requiring multi disciplinary involvement.

Ian thrives on innovation, introducing leading edge management philosophies ideas in his various roles. He has represented industry on a number of research organisation Boards and is an experienced workshop facilitator.

 

 

Brian Smellie
Director of R&D

Brian is a founder of Tekron International and leads the R&D team..

Brian is a Founder of Tekron International and leads the design and development of all Tekron products. These products are widely recognised by industry as leaders in world high accuracy timing technology.

Brian has been and remains at the forefront of design and development of electronics monitoring and control systems. His ability enables him to translate extremely complex technical requirements into commercially successful products.

Prior to founding Tekron, Brian was responsible for the successful design, development and production of many innovative industrial electronic products. Amongst these have been traffic signalling controllers, water recordinging devices, Bonus Bonds computing system for the then New Zealand Post Office and supervisory and control equipment (SCADA) for telecommunications and power industries.

Working in highly complex algorithms and solving timing issues to nano second accuracy are not only Brian's work but also his passion. Recognition by his professional peers of his technical ability in electronics lead to him being awarded the prestigious inaugural Innovator of the Year Award in 2005 by the New Zealand Institution of Professional Engineers.

 

John O'Hara

John O'Hara

John is passionate about helping small high tech companies grow into large high tech companies and has an impressive track record of doing exactly that.

John O'Hara has 20 years experience advising businesses on commercialising innovation, setting up joint ventures and negotiating intellectual property licensing agreements. He currently sits on the board of eight organisations, including Tait Electronics Limited, a Christchurch based radio equipment manufacturer with revenue of $200m and 850 staff in offices across the globe.

John has personally established, and grown to successful exit, four New Zealand-based technology businesses and has chaired a publicly listed UK Software company during a turn around. He has also completed a number of offshore licensing agreements with major American and English companies and established successful joint venture high technology companies in Canada and the United Kingdom.

Garry Reynolds

Garry is an accomplished and experienced business mentor and company director with a track record of growing technology companies.

Garry is managing director of The Resources Guys Ltd (www.trg.co.nz), a technology growth acceleration company utilising skills and experience learned in a career in New Zealand’s high tech industry. As New Zealand Manager and director for Motorola, Garry and his team grew that organisation from six people to a staff of over 120 and a turnover of $100 million in eight years. As CEO of two New Zealand technology exporters he drove growth of one of them from 17 to 92 people and increased revenues tenfold over eighteen months.

In addition to a role as director of Tekron International, Garry is an accredited business mentor and a qualified company director. He served as chairman of the 2007 NZTE Supreme Exporter of the Year, is chairman of Cubed3 advisory board, chairman of the Nautical Contracting advisory board, chairman of the Atrax Group advisory board, chairs the MIT Professional Engineers advisory committee, is a founding member of the NZTE Beachheads Program advisory board, is founding chair of the Growmybiz advisory board, a member of the AUT Business Innovation Centre’s advisory board, a member of the World Class New Zealand network and is personal mentor to several business managers.
